Identity Play Reading to present “Topdog/Underdog”

SUNY Oneonta’s Identity Play Reading Series will present a staged reading of the play Topdog/Underdog by Suzan-Lori Parks, a prominent black playwright who has won multiple awards.

The staged reading will be held Friday, March 29, at 4 p.m. in the Fine Arts Hamblin Theatre. There will be no charge for admittance.

The play is about two black brothers coping with poverty, racism, women and their troubled pasts. This is a great opportunity for a look into issues of race, gender and class through theatre.

Directed by SUNY Oneonta student Sapphira Koerner, who recently directed the full production of A Raisin in the Sun and has also cast students for this show, followed by an engaging discussion led by Professor Andrew Kahl.
