Gustavo Arango publishes BBC Mundo article

Professor Gustavo Arango, Foreign Languages and Literatures, published an article with BBC Mundo, the Spanish service of the British Broadcasting Corporation (London, UK). The article, “The Incredible and Sad Story of Santa María de la Antigua del Darién” (La increible y triste historia de Santa María de la Antigua del Darién) tells the story of the first Spanish city in continental America. Participate in a short segment of Charles Darwin, the Copley Medal, and the Rise of Naturalism, 1862-64, game mastered by one of the authors, Elizabeth Dunn. Along the way, discuss the student experience, how to use Reacting games, and how to prepare to teach “from the back of the room,” putting students in charge of their own education.

CASSC seeking volunteer judges for debate

CASSC is seeking volunteers for it upcoming Forensics, Speech and Debate Tournament on Saturday, February 2 on the SUNY Oneonta Campus in Fitzelle Hall.

We are looking for student, faculty or staff volunteers who will serve as Forensics Judges in a variety of categories (Lincoln Douglas Debate, Humorous Interpretation, Declamation, Public Forum, etc.) This is a wonderful opportunity to earn community service hours while having fun watching some very talented students at the same time. This opportunity is not limited to just SUNY Oneonta students — we welcome adults from the SUNY Oneonta community, as well.
