Theatre Department to present “Our Country’s Good”

SUNY Oneonta’s Theatre Department and the Mask & Hammer Theatre Club will present “Our Country’s Good,” a play by Timberlake Wertenbaker, at the Goodrich Theatre in SUNY Oneonta’s Fine Arts Center on Nov. 7, 8 and 9 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. The show is directed by Andrew Kahl.

Set in 1787, “Our Country’s Good” tells the extraordinary true story of a group of convicts transported to Australia as a punishment for their crimes. Survival is by no means certain in the strange, unfamiliar world, yet an officer inspires them to rehearse and perform a play. Facing opposition, supply shortages, abuse and the threat of hangings, the odds are seemingly stacked against them.

Tickets are $5 for general admission and free with a SUNY Oneonta ID. They are available at the Hunt Union Information Desk seven days a week from 1 to 10 p.m. and at the Fine Arts Center Box Office one hour before showtime. Reserve tickets online at
