The annual “Making Cent$ of Life After College” will take place Wednesday, December 5 from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Hunt Union ballroom.
This interactive program provides students with a realistic glimpse at what their post-graduation financial situation may look like, based off of the job title and geographic location decided on by the student. Students get fake money and fill out a customized budget sheet by making decisions on many areas, including:
- Financing Graduate School (If necessary for the job title they want to have)
- Student Loan Repayment
- Housing Utilities
- Emergency Needs
- Health and Wellness
We are looking for volunteers to assist students in making decisions on how they allocate their monthly income in each of the areas listed above. All information, price ranges, etc. will be provided for you, and if there are areas where you would prefer to interact with students, let us know! We also will need assistance at registration. We appreciate whatever amount of time that you are able to volunteer.
This event is a signature component of the Making Cent$ program. Schools across the country from NYU to the University of California system have begun modeling similar events on their campuses specifically after this event on our campus! Come be part of a fun tradition to help students grow.
Teaching faculty: We encourage you to mention this event in class to your students. Attendance can be verified if offering this event as an assignment or extra credit. Students also receive LEAD credit for participation in this event.
Volunteers will have a light dinner and beverages provided. This event is not possible without the support of our campus community.
Join us in helping our students plan for their life after college! Please contactfor more information and if you would like to volunteer for this event.
