James Cerullo works with U.S. Olympic Teams

In May 2018, Dr. James Cerullo, Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Health & Fitness, completed a two-week rotation at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center in California as an Invited Volunteer Athletic Trainer for the United States Olympic Committee. While at the Center, he assisted the sports medicine staff in treating athletes from the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Track & Field Teams, as well as the U.S. Men’s Rugby Team.

Spots remaining for Safe Space Training

This is a reminder that Safe Space 101 Training has returned and there are still spots available for all sessions!

The Oneonta Safe Space 101 Training builds awareness of the issues affecting LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, etc.) people and provides resources and skills on how to be an ally in the campus community. After completing the 101-style training, participants will be given the option to join the Safe Space Ally Network and display an official Oneonta Safe Space sticker (revamped for this new program) in a visible location. The symbol signifies the individual’s commitment to being a resource and an ally to LGBTQIA+ people.

There are monthly training sessions available for students and employees, beginning the week of 9/24. Those interested will need to RSVP on Campus Connection. To find the dates and times, please log in to Campus Connection and search for Safe Space 101. Also, please make sure to select the correct session (i.e. students RSVP for the Students-Only events, Faculty/Staff RSVP for the Faculty/Staff-Only events). Participants will receive correspondence prior to their session with more information.

If there are any questions or if you have suggestions for session times for the spring semester, please contact Emily Phelps, Assistant Director for Student Life & Leadership/GSRC at Emily.Phelps@oneonta.edu. More information is available online as well.
