Sallie Han, Tracy Betsinger publish chapter on “personhood”

Sallie Han and Tracy Betsinger (Anthropology) recently published a chapter in the volume, Reproductive Ethics II: New Ideas and Innovations (Springer Press, 2018). The chapter, “Reconceiving the Human Fetus in Reproductive Bioethics: Perspectives from Cultural Anthropology and Bioarchaeology,” explores the human fetus and the ascription of personhood. When and if a fetus is considered a “person” varies across cultures and over time and anthropology is uniquely suited to examine this variability.
