Lawyer, human rights activist to speak at Hunt Union

Dr. Alessandra Viviani, from the University of Siena in Italy will be giving a free Public Events lecture Monday, September 10, from 6-7 p.m. in the Waterfront Room, Hunt Union.

The title of the lecture is “Xenophobia, silent racism, and the refugee crisis in Europe from the perspective of human rights education.”

Dr. Viviani is a lawyer and Associate Professor of International Human Rights Law in the Political Science Department at the University of Siena.

Her main field of research is international human rights law, specializing in children’s rights. She is actively involved with UNICEF Italy as an educator and is the President of the UNICEF Committee in her home town of Grosseto, Italy.
