Barbara Vokatis presents at 14th International Conference on Technology, Knowledge and Society

Barbara Vokatis from the Department of Elementary Education and Reading and her colleague from the University at Albany, Jianwei Zhang, presented in a round table discussion at the Fourteenth International Conference on Technology, Knowledge and Society, at St. John’s University (Manhattan Campus), in New York City, on March 2.

The title of the presentation was: “Building Knowledge through Literacy and Technology in Cross-community Interaction.” This study aims to provide the description of an example of scientific knowledge building, through literacy, to inform implementation of new learning standards. It also aims to inform researchers’ and practitioners’ knowledge of literacy development in the area of the roles of literacy in building knowledge to contribute to developing the much-needed connection between literacy research and knowledge building.
