SUNY Oneonta’s art galleries will feature two new student exhibits, beginning this week. The first is “desensitized” by Emily Beck and Lesley-Ann Dries. The exhibit will run from Feb. 15 to March 2 at the Project Space Gallery in the Fine Arts Center, with a public reception for the artists Thursday, Feb. 15, at 5 p.m.
In “desensitized,” both students explore the personal feelings of difficult situations and experiences as revealed in black and white photographs of portraits by Beck and houses by Dries. Both artists included text with the images to communicate their message.
The second exhibit, “DAY DREAM” by Chumin Wu and Xiaoyi Zeng, will run from Feb. 15 to March 2 in the Martin-Mullen Annex (lobby area) in the Fine Arts Center. There will be a public reception for the artists Friday, Feb. 16 at 5 p.m.
“DAY DREAM” features digitally manipulated photographs by Wu and Zeng. This is a true collaboration by these two students. Wu contributed black and white digital photographs of urban situations, and Zeng offered digital color graphic images of humor and whimsy to add to the “Day Dream” experience of common everyday situations.
