About The Conference: The Student Diversity Leadership Conference is a one day event designed for individuals from different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives to interact with student, administrators, and faculty presenters and exchange information to enhance multicultural comprehension, self-awareness, and leadership skills. Participants will hopefully apply the acquired skills, tools, and insight to advance their personal development and be effective leaders both on campus and in the surrounding communities.

Student Diversity Leadership Conference Call for Presenters
For the seventh year, the Office of Equity and Inclusion at SUNY Oneonta is happy to host the Student Diversity Leadership Conference.
Date: Saturday, February 17th, 2018
Time: 8am – 5:00pm
Location: SUNY Oneonta, Hunt College Union
We will be looking at how we view and interact with leaders in our world, schools, and communities, and how we can bring a more inclusive environment to all. We are excited to bring a variety of presentations and workshops to our attendees. We are inviting students and faculty that are interested in presenting to submit proposals for this conference that will educate students about leadership, culture, beliefs, biases, inclusivity, etc., from their own perspectives.
Proposals will be evaluated based on relevance to current issues, appeal to conference participants, creativity, ingenuity, and applicability for participants after the conference. Suggested topics may include, but are not limited to:
Leadership Development Race/Ethnicity Cultural Differences and Values Intersectionality Religion Global Awareness/Global Education
Gender/Sexuality Sexual Health Political Effects on our Society
Self-Care Disability Civic Engagement/Social Justice
Presenters’ registration fees will be waived if their proposals are accepted. If you are interested in presenting on Saturday, February 17th, please submit a proposal that includes:
– Presentation Title
– Name of Presenter(s) (Can be between 1 to 4 presenters)
Occupation (if relevant)
Complete Mailing Address
Phone Number and E-mail Address
– If you are a student presenter, please include your advisor’s information if they are a co-presenter. However, co-presenters are not required for student presentations.
– Topic/Category (i.e Disability and Music, Social Justice, etc.)
– Between 150 to 200 words describing the presentation with references or work cited
– Presenters will have 45-60 minutes to present – if this time is not doable, please note the time needed on your proposal
– Method of Presentation (i.e. PowerPoint, activity)
– Technological Needs
The deadline for presentation submissions is Friday, January 5th, 2018. The conference planning committee will review applications and will be choosing proposals to be a part of the conference. A notification regarding the status of your workshop proposal will be sent to you by Thursday, January 23rd, 2018.
