Charles O’Bryan, Director of Milne Library was awarded a Ph.D., Managerial Leadership in the Information Profession, Simmons College, May 2017. The dissertation abstract, “School Librarians and Next Generation Advocacy: Gaining Power and Influence Through the Development of Social Capital” is available in ProQuest Dissertations and Theses. The study explores the use of social capital to enhance the power and influence of school librarians, while further examining its potential to improve advocacy outcomes.
Dr. Charles O’Bryan, Director of Milne Library, recently published a peer reviewed article entitled “Talent Management: Hiring and Developing Engaged Employees. It was published in the November issue of Library Leadership & Management. O’Bryan was a co-author on the paper with Anne Marie Casey, Ph.D., Dean, Scholarly Communication and the Library, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. The article provides a review of the literature on talent management and explores ways in which this human resource management concept might be applicable to higher education and libraries
Dr. Charles O’Bryan co-authors a section of a book chapter, “Envisioning the Library of the Future” with Molly Brown, User Experience and Outreach Librarian, Stetson University. The book, “Research Methods for Librarians and Educators: Practical Applications in Formal and Informal Learning Environments” will be available through Libraries Unlimited, 2018.
