Library and Facilities Collaborates to Divert Over 30 Tons of Paper From Landfill!

A big thank you to Library and Facilities staff who worked together to divert over 60,000 lbs. of outdated, bound, academic journals from the landfill to a local recycler. The material, which can not be recycled with typical paper due to it’s low quality content and glue used in binding, will be shredded and sold for fiber to make chipboard boxes (ex: cereal boxes). Weekly pickups of more material are scheduled for the duration of the library renovation to total approximately 50 tons.
