STUDENT GRANT PROGRAM FOR RESEARCH & CREATIVE ACTIVITY

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: This program, funded by the College at Oneonta Foundation and the SUNY Oneonta Alumni Association, provides funding of up to $1,500 for project expenses (plus student and faculty stipends) for independent research and creative activity projects conducted by students with faculty sponsorship. Separate guidelines and application forms are used for Research projects and Creative Activity (CA) projects. Guidelines and application materials for the FALL 2017 round of this ‘traditional’ Student Grant Program are available on the Committee on Research website. The application deadline is Wednesday, November 15 at 5:00 pm.

NEW FUNDING TRACK: The Committee on Research is pleased to announce a pilot Student Research/CA “Shadowing” Program funded by an award from the Strategic Allocation of Resources (StAR) Program. This new ‘track’ is intended to broaden student engagement in research/CA, whereby a student with little-to-no experience (freshmen/sophomores, but transfer students may also be eligible) would join a faculty member’s research/CA endeavor as an “observer” or a junior team member. Budgets can include up to $500 for project expenses, plus stipends for both the faculty mentor and the ‘shadow’ student. Online applications, to be submitted by full- or part-time faculty only, will be accepted on a rolling basis. More details are available on the Committee on Research website.

An Information Session for students (and interested faculty) with Research Committee members will be held on Wednesday, October 18 at 5:00 p.m. in Hunt Union, Butternut Valley Room. Also feel welcome to contact a member of the Committee on Research if you have questions.
