Dr. Arthur Falbush presented jazz and improvised music workshops in Peoria, Illinois, Peru, New York and Schenectady, New York. ALL EARS is the creation of Falbush and educator Keith Pray and is an evolution of the earliest methods of teaching jazz and American music. ALL EARS is run in conjunction with Capital District Jazz (CDJ), a 501 (c) (3) whose mission is to to build and serve a wider audience for jazz through education. Dr. Falbush serves on the board of directors of CDJ.
In January, Falbush will lead a weeklong workshop ALL EARS in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Daniel Payne, English, and John McCaslin-Doyle, Theater, attended a prestigious national professional development conference in Washington, D.C., July 19-20, 2017. The ACE Leadership Academy for Department Chairs is a 2-day workshop that prepares department chairs for their roles as institutional leaders who can advance their programs and contribute to the larger mission of their colleges or universities. Under the guidance of experienced college and university leaders, participants explore best practices for leading departments in times of change. The format includes case studies, tabletop discussions, simulations on key leadership issues, and peer-to-peer sharing about achieving departmental success.
Dr. Arthur Falbush and All Ears Jazz were profiled by Music Education New Zealand Aotearoa (the national professional body for music educators in New Zealand) in the summer 2017 issue of Tune Me In magazine. The cover featured a picture of Falbush performing on trombone and the accompanying article profiled his educational philosophy and an overview of the 2017 All Ears: Jazz and Improvised Workshop, held at the Ara Institute of Canterbury.
Falbush will return to New Zealand in January 2018 for performances and masterclasses.
