The Life of the Mind (LOTM) Faculty Showcase spotlights the research and scholarship, creative activity, teaching, service, and varied integrated contributions made by our faculty to the intellectual life of the campus community and beyond. This year’s showcase will be held in the Morris Conference Center over two consecutive days: Wednesday, November 8 from noon to 5:00 p.m. AND Thursday, November 9 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (this should allow for most participants to be present at their display at various times during the event).
Whether you have presented at a recent conference or have a project in progress or just getting underway, consider sharing your work at the LOTM Showcase. Faculty may contribute more than one presentation, and new faculty are encouraged to participate! The event will also include a “SUNY Oneonta Faculty Publications Exhibit” (a display area for books or other publications not suitable for a poster/computer presentation; limited to those published in the last two years).
The deadline for online submission of presentation information is Monday, October 16; visit the LOTM website for the link to complete the Abstract Submission Form. Faculty who wish to display a book(s) or other publication(s) must also submit information via the online form; however, abstracts are not required. Large format poster printing services will be provided at no cost to presenters (October 23 submission deadline for poster printing; contact Diana Moseman if you have questions), and Grants Development Office staff can help facilitate a variety of presentation formats.
If you do not plan to be a LOTM 8 presenter, please mark your calendars and plan to visit the LOTM Faculty Showcase to explore the wide range of scholarship and related activities from across the disciplines and to support your colleagues in their endeavors.
Feel welcome to contact the Grants Development Office, Kathy Meeker (x2632) or Chris Barberio (x2434), if you have questions regarding the LOTM 8 Faculty Showcase. Visit the LOTM website often for updates!
This year’s 9/11 Memorial Ceremony will be held 9 a.m., Monday, September 11, 2017 at the 9/11 Memorial in the quad outside of Fitzelle Hall. SUNY Oneonta was touched deeply by the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001. Among those who lost their lives in terrorist attacks in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania that day were seven SUNY Oneonta alumni. We mark this date with a memorial ceremony each fall. The ceremony will feature the University Police Color Guard, presentation of flowers and a wreath, and special music. The 9/11 monument stands as a tribute to all who perished, and as a pledge that our campus community will never forget.
All are invited to attend.
