Managing Stress In Everyday Life
|This class is taught by experienced instructor, Valerie Bolger. Valerie earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology at SUNY Oneonta and Masters in Health Education at Cortland State College. She’s also taught Stress Management, Yoga Exercises for Fitness and Health & Current Health Problems & Issues at SUNY Oneonta.
If you have ever experienced stress in your life, and let’s face it, who hasn’t? It’s important to make time for you and your wellbeing! Managing Stress in Everyday Life, will allow you to set that much needed time aside and identify key stressors and how to put them in perspective. If you have ever spent money on a massage to destress, then you should consider signing up for this class. The difference is that you will be able to continue to use what you learn in this class to help deal with stress as it comes. The benefits will certainly outlive the class.
The course will improve health and emotional well-being by learning the skills needed to identify physical, mental or emotional tension as cues to apply relaxation techniques in everyday life. The mindfulness meditation and strategies practiced in this course will help connect the mind, body and breath that will create this amazing self-tool to manage stress. In addition, this course will draw attention to external factors that influence the quality of life such as goal-setting, time management, nutrition, physical activity and worry.
This is a 3 week class and will be held on the following Wednesdays:
Time: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
|A very gentle, beginner’s class in which we use the chair for support through all poses, either standing next to the chair or sitting in it. Emphasis is on exploring range of motion; breathing exercises; and developing greater flexibility. No mat needed, just comfortable, stretch clothing. Excellent class for those with injuries, stiffness, or decreased mobility due to surgery; this class can be done in a wheelchair.
All levels of experience are welcome!

This is a 10 week Thursday evening class.
