Please join us on March 2nd at Noon in Le Café, Morris Complex for a Disability Awareness Presentation, sponsored by UUP, in recognition of World Downs’ Syndrome Awareness Day. Panelists include Laura Budai, Theresa Clark, Jared Okun, and Peter Suits. They are students in the Pathfinder Village Otsego Academy program, which is a post-secondary experience for students with Downs’ Syndrome. They will share their experiences of growing up and going to school from the insider perspective of disability awareness.
Dr. Dawn Hamlin, Chair, Department of Educational Psychology, Counseling and Special Education, will moderate the discussion.
Audience questions and dialogue are encouraged.
UUP will serve a union lunch. Please RSVP UUP at firstname.lastname@example.org for purposes of the lunch order.
March 21st is identified as World Downs’ Syndrome Awareness Day. Because the date is 3/21, it relates to one of the major causes of Downs’ Syndrome – Trisomy 21. One of the biggest public awareness campaigns that coincide with World Downs’ Syndrome Awareness Day has been ‘Show me your 21’. We would love to see the SUNY Oneonta Campus Community join us and see how creative you can be in showing us your 21!
