TRANS 101 workshop: an introduction to transgender communities

As a follow up to this year’s Common Read, Redefining Realness by Janet Mock, the Common Read Committee is sponsoring two 90 minute workshops on transgender issues. This is an introductory level workshop that will provide general information about transgender communities, including terminology, common experiences, and best practices to be an ally. Attendees will become aware of issues faced by transgender individuals and how to navigate wellness services on campus and in the community. This workshop will promote awareness and aims to cultivate empathy to improve the overall support on campus for all trans, nonbinary, and gender-expansive students, faculty and staff.

The two session are on December 8 from 2:30pm – 4:00pm and from 4:15pm – 5:45pm in the Hunt College Union Red Dragon Theater.

This event is open to the entire campus community. Funding has been generously provided by the Public Events Committee.
