The 5th Annual Global Movement Festival, hosted by SUNY Music Department, Office of Equity and Inclusion, Office of International Education, Sodexo, Resident Student Organization, Student Association, and Oneonta Auxiliary Services will be held on Monday, November 21, 2016 at 6:45pm in the Hunt Union Ballroom. The first annual Global Movement Festival took place in 2012, and was initiated with the dual mission to promote cross-cultural understanding, tolerance, and a sense of global connectedness through the education and presentation of music, dance, art and culture; AND, to unite the city of Oneonta and SUNY Oneonta campus in a collaborative effort to raise awareness of current global issues, and to raise funds for global charities.
Over these past five years this event and its affiliates has raised almost $9,000 for causes in Sudan, Ghana, Uganda, and Sierra Leone and has donated over 40 bags of groceries and approximately $300 to the local Riverside Elementary School Food Pantry!
This year we will be accepting donations for the Ninash Foundation (suggested donation $3/person).

The evening will begin at 6:45pm with an international buffet and a brief presentation by Ashok Malhotra, founder of the Ninash Foundation. After the guest speaker, there will be student and faculty-led performances of music, dance, video and spoken word from around the world. The night will end with an international fashion show, organized by the Office of International Education. This is a family-friendly community event, so bring the whole family and your friends!
