Since mid-October, preparation for the scheduled HVAC project in Hunt Union has been underway with asbestos abatement in the mechanical rooms. Beginning November 7th, work will extend to public areas of the basement affecting meeting rooms, offices and corridors on and off through summer of 2017.
Between November 7-11, the work will start in the hallways causing disruptions from Damascene Book Cellar to and behind the offices of the Student Association. The abatement work will occur during regular hours. During this time, access to Damascene will be made through the Union Square which will serve as a by-pass; the Waterfront will also serve as a by-pass for deliveries from the rear service door. Union Square, Susquehanna, and the Campus Ministry Office will be offline from November 7th until January 18 for abatement and other HVAC related work.
Between November 14 through the end of the month, work will occur in Damascene after business hours. They will remain open during regular scheduled hours (pardon the appearance).
During the winter break, abatement will occur in the Student Association and staff will be relocated to room 220. The Waterfront will be offline during this time. The Student Association will reopen for business just prior to the start of the new semester.
During the summer of 2017 all meeting rooms in the basement will be offline and the Student Association will work out of 220. The work will extend to the first and second floors during the summer of 2018. We will have more information about the project as we near future phases.
