Tim Welch, a full time Lecturer in the Communication and Media department, has just published his 23rd audio book entitled “Vaporized: Solid Strategies for Success in a Dematerialized World.” The author, Robert Tercek, has an impressive resume in the media business as the former President of Digital Media at OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network, CEO of MTV International, and prior to that as Senior Vice President of Digital Media at Sony Pictures Entertainment. Tercek asserts in “Vaporized” that in 21st century businesses software is often replacing hardware at an accelerating pace. For instance the Uber app is replacing the taxi business (and could eventually replace car ownership). Other mobile phone apps have replaced digital cameras, GPS devices and, for much of the world, computers themselves. Welch was chosen as the narrator through a competitive audition and because he has produced other material on new media and business management. Welch’s latest audio book is available on Audible.com and iTunes and you can listen to a sample by clicking here: “Vaporized“.
