Meet & Greet Dr. Adina Paytan – October 25, 1:45–3:15 PM (HU Living Room)

As part of the Cornell-Gladstone-Hanlon-Kaufmann (CGHK) Lecture series, the campus community is invited to an informal discussion with the 2016 CGHK speaker, Dr. Adina Paytan, on Tuesday, October 25 from 1:45 to 3:15 PM in Hunt Union’s Living Room (outside Starbucks). Enjoy a hot or iced coffee or tea, compliments of Sodexo, learn about the work of this distinguished researcher, and get your questions answered.

Dr. Paytan is a Research Professor at the Institute of Marine Sciences, University of California, Santa Cruz. Her interests are in the fields of biogeochemistry, chemical oceanography and paleoceanography, with an overarching research goal to understand the processes and feedbacks operating in the earth System and how they relate to global changes in climate and tectonics. Dr. Paytan will deliver the 2016 CGHK Lecture entitled “Corals on Acid – Impact of Ocean Acidification on Coral Reefs” at 7:00 PM that evening (October 25) in the Hunt Union Ballroom (dessert reception to follow).

Club Chuck & NACA Mid-Atlantic  Recognition for SAAC

Congratulations to the SUNY Oneonta  Student Association Activities Council (SAAC) for being awarded the Outstanding Social Program for Club Chuck by the Mid-Atlantic Region of the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) last week in Buffalo, NY.   Club Chuck was organized by SAAC earlier  this fall and co-sponsored by 13 other campus organizations. Specifically cited in the announcement were the inclusion of multiple campus organizations and effectiveness as a late night event.  Thanks to all who were involved in making this late night event a success.
