Snapper Petta, Outdoor Program Director – Residential Life & Community, was an invited presenter at the annual two day event held at Colonial Pemaquid in New Harbor, ME on July 30th & 31st, 2016. Pemaquid, a 17th century living history site, interprets England’s attempts to establish a cod fishing industry while combating the continuing battles of the Wobanaki people and their French allies in their efforts to dislodge the English from this foothold on the North American coastline. Throughout the two days, dressed in period clothing, Snapper portrayed a French trader, displaying traditional trade goods and explaining the role of European interaction with the local Native American people.
The next meeting of Oneonta Peer-led Cancer Support Group is scheduled for August 17th at 4 p.m. in the Butternut Valley Room in Hunt Union next to Starbucks.
Our speakers this month are:
• Amy Taggart, Physical Therapist at the Bassett Cancer Treatment Center, who specializes in lymphedema. Amy will be speaking on how lymphedema occurs and ways to deal with it.
• Wendy Stickley-Ocker, Program Manager at American Cancer Society, will discuss what the ACS has to offer and will answer any questions we may have.
Both women have spoken to our group before and were very informative so we look forward to having them join us once again.
If you have been touched by cancer in any way, you are welcome here! For a complete schedule of meetings, click here. If you need further information or have any questions, please contact Laura Emmett at x 3114.
