UUP encourages its members to participate in Thursday’s Commemorative Vigil on Thursday, July 14 at 5 PM, Muller Plaza, downtown Oneonta. The Oneonta Branch of the NAACP, community leaders, law enforcement officials, and members of faith communities from Otsego and Delaware Counties will gather to honor the memory of the police officers and the Black men who recently lost their lives in Louisiana, Minnesota and Dallas, Texas.
The vigil will be co-hosted by Oneonta Branch of the NAACP and Rev. Cynthia Walton-Leavitt, of the First United Presbyterian Church. Oneonta Mayor Gary Herzig, Oneonta Police Chief Dennis Nayor, NAACP Education Chair Michelle Osterhoudt; and Rev. Elsie Rhodes, from the First Presbyterian Church, Cooperstown will be part of the program.
In case of rain, the vigil will take place in Temple Beth El, 83 Chestnut Street, Oneonta.
