Faculty Library Carrels Requests

Faculty members who wish to request a locked carrel for one semester or for the academic year (fall 2016 / spring 2017) should complete the online form by going to , click on “Faculty Services,” click “ Faculty Carrels,” fill out the Faculty Carrel Request Form, then hit “Submit.”   The appended guidelines establish the priority order for a carrel assignment and include the rules governing carrel use.

All applications for library carrels must be submitted by Monday, August 15, 2016, after which time assignments will be made in accordance with library guidelines.  Because the number of carrels is limited, qualified applicants who do not receive assignments will be placed on a waiting list and notified should a vacancy occur.

Those with questions should contact the Library Director’s Office at 436-2723 or 436-3702.

Summer Hours – 2016

FROM:                    Lisa Wenck, Senior Executive Employee Services Officer

DATE:                     May 5, 2016

RE:                         Summer Hours, 2016

Effective Monday, May 16, 2016, the College will implement the summer hours work schedule.  The suggested “core” hours apply to all offices on campus subject, of course, to operational need.  We are hopeful that the schedule will enhance employees’ enjoyment of the summer months.

For the period of May 16, 2016 through August 12, 2016, all offices should be open for business between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. excluding the lunch period.  These represent the core office hours for the summer months.  Supervisors are responsible for assuring that offices remain open and able to conduct business during these hours.

Supervisors need to remember that classified employees must work the required 7.5 hours, take at least a half-hour lunch break and office core hours must be covered.  If an alternative work schedule is approved for a particular employee, it should remain constant throughout the summer to minimize confusion.

Office coverage can be maintained by either classified or professional staff or both.  Any variations from the core hours must be submitted in writing and approved by the Vice President of the appropriate Division, if not previously approved.

As of Monday, August 15, 2016 all offices will return to the regular 4:30 p.m. core closing hour.

Senior Countdown Events

The SUNY Oneonta community is invited to celebrate the Class of 2016 as they Pass through the Pillars on Friday, May 13, (weather permitting) at 2 p.m., which is immediately following the commencement rehearsal.  Seniors will pass through the pillars of Old Main and cap off their journey that began when they entered campus through those pillars at the start of their freshmen year.

A champagne toast and hors d’oeuvres will be provided by the SUNY Oneonta Alumni Association.  Join us as we cheer our students during their final campus tradition before graduation!

The Office of Alumni Engagement is also seeking volunteers to assist with this event and the Senior Class BBQ, which will be held on Thursday, May 12 from noon-3 p.m.  Please contact Danielle Tonner at or x2526 if you are able to assist with either event.
