Gina Keel Presents Paper on GMO Labeling Politics at NYSPSA

Gina Keel (Political Science) presented “A Failed Attempt at Preemption, For Now: Recent GMO Labeling Politics in the U.S.” at the Annual New York State Political Science Association Conference in New Paltz, April 23, 2016. The paper examined industry’s current efforts to persuade the 114th Congress to preempt state regulations by creating a federal voluntary GMO labeling regime. The case illustrates venue shopping and opportunities and limits for policy change strategies. Keel also chaired a panel, Achieving Progressive Policies: Promises and Challenges, at the conference.
