New Critics Undergraduate Literature Conference – April 9

The seventh annual New Critics Conference will take place on Saturday, April 9, at Morris Conference Center. Student panels will run from 10-3:00 and will be followed by Prof. Jinny Huh’s (University of Vermont) keynote address at 3:30. Dr. Huh’s talk, entitled, “Arresting Eyes: Race Detection in a Post-Racial America” will look at the efforts to detect race in detective novels and passing narratives. Further, Dr. Huh will ask what it means to try to detect race in “post-racial” America where we are often instructed not to see race.

Conference panels and the keynote are free and open to all, and light refreshments will be provided at the keynote. Please see the attached conference schedule and keynote poster, or contact Bianca Tredennick for more information.
