Student Research/Creative Activity Prizes – Call for Nominations

The College at Oneonta Foundation (CF) Awards for Excellence in Student Research and Creative Activity were established in 2011 to recognize and honor outstanding SUNY Oneonta students who conduct high-quality independent research and creative activity projects with faculty sponsorship. The CF will award prizes in the amount of $300 to five individual students who present work at the 2016 Student Research and Creative Activity (SRCA) Day on April 20. Faculty sponsors of prize winners will also each receive a $100 prize. Nominations from across the disciplines will be considered.

Nominations must be submitted online by Monday, April 4. Please note (below) the eligibility requirements for the awards.

Student Eligibility

  • Students working solely on projects conducted as part of a class or coursework are NOT eligible.
  • Only students recommended by a faculty sponsor via submission of the online form will be considered.
  • The individual student nominee’s contribution to the project(s) must be clearly articulated in the faculty nomination.
  • Student finalists must be present at SRCA Day (April 20) and be available to a review team to be eligible for consideration (specific times will be arranged in advance). Note: the nominee’s SRCA Day abstract will be added to the nomination for review/selection of finalists by Committee on Research members, and provided in advance to the SRCA Day judges.

Each of the five student prize winners will be expected to deliver a brief oral presentation at the April 27 (noon) Faculty Convivium; and all prize winners will be honored at the Academic Achievement Awards reception on May 4 (4:00 pm).

Please consider nominating your student(s) for these awards if they meet the eligibility criteria and you feel that their work is exceptional.
