The campus will have its annual “state” fire inspection between MAR 21 and APR 1. The state fire marshal will have access to inspect every room on campus. The inspector will be accompanied by campus personnel.
Common violations include, but are not limited to:
- General housekeeping
- Excessive combustible material
- Unauthorized extension cords
- Unauthorized space heaters

On March 7, 2016 the Heating Plant will be conducting combustion testing on Boiler #1. At times during the day it may be required to release steam into the atmosphere which will sound like a train whistle. This sound is normal and there is no reason for alarm or concern.

Applications are now being accepted for the Biological Field Station (Cooperstown) summer internship program. The BFS offers 10-week paid summer internships for undergraduate students interested in Ecology, Field Biology, Water Resources, Environmental Science, and other related areas. Students will conduct research in a team environment with mentoring by faculty and staff. Applications will be accepted through Friday March 18th 2016. The program is open to all undergraduate students, from Oneonta and beyond. Spoken Word Artist and Activist Yazmin Monet Watkins will present a Poetry Workshop: Note to Self, on Friday February 26, 2016 from 4pm—6 pm, in CME Multipurpose Room, Lee Hall. Dinner will be provided.
In Note to Self, participants write loving poems and/or letters to themselves. This exercise deconstructs media representations of beauty and purpose while analyzing societal promotion of racialized body, and gender norms.
This workshop promotes self-confidence and positive body image.

Kyle Burch has recently joined the staff as Staff Assistant, (x2682 , email@example.com). Kyle is a SUNY Oneonta alum who worked in the Call Center as a student, and most recently at NY Health Options in Albany.
Alexa Sundal, also a former Call Center agent and recent SUNY Oneonta graduate, is serving as Staff Assistant in a temporary appointment (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Once again the campus community will come together to form a Relay for Life Team. This year we have joined forces with the Random Acts of Kindness (R.A.K.) student group and our team name is Mimi’s Acts of Kindness. Please join us for a general interest meeting on Friday, March 4 at noon in the Morris Craven Lounge. During this meeting we will coordinate a sign-up sheet for various time slots during the event, solicit ideas and show you how so sign you up online. Light refreshments and hot cocoa and will be provided courtesy of the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
We are hoping to see a large interest from faculty, staff, students and community members. Please spread the word! All are welcome, so please spread the word among your friends and family members. The date of the event is April 15 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. on April 16 in the Alumni Field House. You can walk for as short or as long of a period as you wish.
